Everyone is welcome
Liverpool Coffee Festival is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, accessible and enjoyable environment for everyone.
This Code of Conduct applies to all visitors, exhibitors, speakers, sponsors, contractors, volunteers, staff and anyone else attending or working at the festival.
By attending Liverpool Coffee Festival, you agree to treat other people with respect and to follow this Code of Conduct and any reasonable instructions issued by festival staff, venue staff or security personnel.
Expected behaviour
We ask everyone attending the festival to:
Treat visitors, exhibitors, staff and venue teams with courtesy and respect.
Respect other people’s personal space, boundaries and privacy.
Follow instructions relating to safety, security, accessibility and crowd management.
Drink alcohol responsibly where it is available.
Supervise any children in their care.
Use accessible facilities appropriately and keep access routes clear.
Take reasonable care of the venue, festival equipment and exhibitors’ property.
Ask permission before taking close-up photographs or videos of individuals, particularly children.
Liverpool Coffee Festival celebrates a wide range of people, businesses, cultures, backgrounds and perspectives. Differences of opinion are acceptable; abusive, intimidating or discriminatory behaviour is not.
Unacceptable behaviour
We do not tolerate harassment, discrimination, abuse or threatening behaviour in any form.
Unacceptable behaviour includes, but is not limited to:
Discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning comments or conduct.
Harassment, bullying, intimidation or deliberate humiliation.
Unwanted sexual comments, attention, contact or advances.
Aggressive behaviour, threats, fighting or physical violence.
Offensive gestures, imagery, clothing, displays or promotional materials.
Repeatedly invading another person’s personal space or continuing unwanted interaction after being asked to stop.
Intrusive photography or filming, or continuing to photograph or film someone after they have objected.
Stalking or deliberately following another person around the event.
Deliberately obstructing accessible routes or misusing accessible facilities.
Dangerous, reckless or seriously disruptive behaviour.
Being excessively intoxicated or behaving unsafely because of alcohol or other substances.
Damaging, stealing or interfering with festival, venue, exhibitor or personal property.
Refusing to follow reasonable instructions from festival staff, venue staff or security personnel.
We will not tolerate discrimination or harassment connected to a person’s:
Age
Disability or health condition
Gender identity or gender expression
Gender reassignment
Marriage or civil partnership
Pregnancy, maternity or parental status
Race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national background
Religion or belief, including the absence of religious belief
Sex
Sexual orientation
Socioeconomic background or social class
Physical appearance
Accent or language
Any other personal characteristic
This list is not exhaustive. Behaviour may breach this Code of Conduct even where it is not directed towards a legally protected characteristic.
Exhibitor products and displays
Products, signage, demonstrations, promotional materials and other content displayed at the festival must be appropriate for a welcoming public event.
Liverpool Coffee Festival may require the removal of any product, image, wording, display or activity that it reasonably considers discriminatory, threatening, seriously offensive, unsafe or otherwise inconsistent with this Code of Conduct.
Reporting a concern
Anyone who experiences or witnesses behaviour that breaches this Code of Conduct should report it as soon as possible.
You can:
Speak to any member of the Liverpool Coffee Festival team.
Speak to venue security.
Visit the festival information point.
Email livcoffeefest@gmail.com during or after the festival.
Please provide as much information as you comfortably can, including what happened, where and when it happened and who was involved.
Reports will be treated seriously and handled as sensitively as reasonably possible. We will not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a genuine concern or assists with a report.
If there is an immediate risk of harm or a medical emergency, contact a member of staff or security immediately. Call 999 where emergency assistance is required.
How we may respond
Liverpool Coffee Festival will decide what action is appropriate based on the circumstances and seriousness of the incident.
Actions may include:
Speaking to the people involved.
Issuing a verbal or written warning.
Refusing alcohol or other service.
Removing inappropriate materials or stopping an activity.
Requiring someone to leave a particular area.
Removing an individual or organisation from the festival.
Cancelling an exhibitor’s participation.
Refusing admission to future Liverpool Coffee Festival events.
Contacting the venue, security personnel, emergency services or police where appropriate.
Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behaviour must do so immediately.
A person removed from the festival for breaching this Code of Conduct will not normally be entitled to a ticket refund. Exhibitors removed for breaching the Code will not be entitled to a refund of their exhibitor fees.
Our commitment
Liverpool Coffee Festival will:
Make this Code of Conduct available before and during the event.
Brief relevant staff and security personnel on how concerns should be reported and escalated.
Take reasonable steps to respond to reported safety, harassment and discrimination concerns.
Support anyone seeking a safe space away from an incident where reasonably possible.
Review reported incidents and use appropriate feedback to improve future events.
We welcome constructive feedback about the festival and this Code of Conduct.
